Engineering Functions
PCB Design
Solutions Group's printed circuit board design outsourcing model is structured to provide standardization and consistency across all pcb layout activities. Though each client has internal pcb processes to which the SGI dedicated pcb design team will integrate, we have developed a system and an infrastructure to efficiently transition in-house PCB design groups, into SGI/Client partnership groups, and aggressively reduce costs while maintaining consistency and quality in all board designs.
SGI employs talented pcb designers both domestically and internationally that are adept in cutting edge pcb design technology, encompassing high speed pcb designs, RF designs, circuit boards with stacked micro vias and .4 mm pitch BGAs, etc.; including analog, digital and mixed signal designs. SGI also continues to improve quality through good hiring, review and training practices for all pcb designers.
SGI also specializes in PCB database conversions and translations of legacy printed circuit boards and schematics to support tool set upgrades, or RoHS compliance mandates. PCB database conversions can be daunting tasks for internal design groups with steady work flow of designs. SGI has the experience and infrastructure to translate pcb design databases rapidly and effectively. SGI's quality control process ensures pcb layout conversion projects are accurate and in accordance with specifications.
CAD Library Development
Solutions Group's PCB Library Development/Management and Mechanical Library Development/Management solution dramatically cuts costs and reduces turn times for engineering development cycles. SGI has developed a methodology, utilizing a proprietary web based technology and process to manage the interface between the Engineer requesting library parts production and the library department doing development, that can tie directly into the desired CAD platform, Schematic Tool, PCB layout tool, and procurement or product lifecycle management software to make global library management run smoothly. Solutions Group has experience hosting global cad libraries on secure servers, or updating client libraries remotely on a nightly or periodic basis as defined by client process.
SGI also specializes in PCB library database conversions and translations to support tool set upgrades, new DFM or DFX rules, or RoHS compliance mandates. Implementing client defined process, or our internal process that utilizes component engineers to validate parts end-of-life, availability and compliance to RoHS, and a three-tier library verification and review process, SGI provides extreme quality for rapid pcb library conversions. Likewise, SGI will track and document utilization and productivity to ensure good labor practices, training, and overall efficiency during library development or library conversion activities.
Electrical Engineering
Solutions Group's Electrical engineering team is involved in the development of bleeding-edge technology for electronic products. SGI provides customers with product engineering expertise across all disciplines, including: electrical engineering, performance simulation, component packaging, PCB design, performance and reliability analysis.
Many bulk outsource clients utilize our elite engineering team to develop reference designs, development boards, re-designs for obsolescence, and to assist in hardware architecture and system development for products in various industries, including: consumer electronics, data/telecom, wireless and LAN/Wan, Industrial and military/aerospace development.
By working closely with chip companies like Intel, Freescale, AMD, Cypress, Qualcomm and many others, SGI brings the experience and relationships required to bring these systems into the market place.
Mechanical Engineering
Solutions Group's Mechanical Engineering department supports our internal product development group, as well as our bulk outsourcing clients for mechanical based tasks and projects. SGI's has experience in product design, utilizing 3-D CAD software to model and simulate various concepts in a variety of media, including sheet metal, plastics, metals, rubbers, and others, with consideration to multiple manufacturing techniques, such as, injection molding, casting, extrusion, hydroforming, and many others.
Our ME process focuses on manufacturability and end use providing manufacturing support and prototype builds for proof of concept through production ramp up.
Likewise, SGI mechanical engineering group performs finite element analysis techniques to evaluate thermal load calculations for circuit functionality and cooling/air flow, as well as structural analysis for strength, cost and production viability.
Software Engineering
Solutions Group's Software Engineering team provides multiple software solutions to add value to our clients; From custom tools and applications to improve design processes, to hardware/software integration and firmware development for full product engineering.
Throughout all phases of a software development project SGI follows five important processes: requirements management, project planning, project monitoring and control, software quality assurance, and software quality management. All these processes are meant to guarantee the quality of our software as they are carried out by highly specialized professionals.
